Parenting Guidance

I have extensive clinical and research experience in both child and adult psychotherapy and parenting, which allows me to provide well-informed services in the intersection area of these specialties. My clinical training and research in these areas backdate my experience of becoming the mother of two children; yet I can safely attest that experiencing the ups and downs of the parenting world has honed my clinical services in this area.

Being a parent or expecting a baby can be emotionally difficult. Many people report an increase in their anxiety and feelings of isolation or marital dissatisfaction during the first couple of years of parenting. Relative lack of emotional or social support during this period exacerbates these complaints. If you are experiencing any of these feelings, you may benefit from contacting me.

I have an empathetic and inquisitive style and I aim to create improvement as quickly as possible. My goal is to alleviate the stress related to parenting challenges so that you can devote your energy to enjoying raising your child.

Here is a list of problems that I commonly address in my private practice:

  • Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
  • Co-parenting for divorced couples
  • Parenting challenges related to parents’ own childhood traumas
  • Managing behavioral problems, sleep problems or eating problems
  • Parenting, attachment and bonding with children and teens

If you are experiencing any other issues that I have not listed here, please feel free to contact me. Also please see my child psychotherapy page for more information on problems that I treat in children.
